Chamber music studies

Chamber music studies at the IVA (2 years)

In the two-year chamber music studies, you will acquire the ability to take on the first or second violin and viola in ensembles and professional projects and to successfully perform in recitals with piano accompaniment or solo.

The basis for the course is sufficient previous knowledge of understanding the musical text and a solid basis of violin / viola technique. If you cannot play the viola yet, you will learn how during this course of studies.

01 Application

You apply with a video in which you briefly introduce yourself and talk about your career so far (violin / viola) and your professional goals.

Present 2 pieces from different musical eras with different characters

(length of the video 15 minutes max.)

02 Exams

An internal intermediate exam takes place one year before the final exam.

The official final exam consists of a video of a chamber music program in which you play different parts on the violin and viola.

04 Certificate

After passing the final exam, you will receive a certificate with which you can successfully start your professional life.

03 Fees/Other

The fees for one year of studies are 2949 euros (payable in advance of the respective year at the latest four weeks before the start of the course / year of studies). It is possible to start a course at any time during the calendar year.

Each year of study consists of a total of 38 hours of individual lessons, which are usually spread over the entire year of study (38 weeks).

The regular period of studies is 3 years in the basic course of studies, 2 years in the other courses of studies, and can be shortened if you are suitably qualified (excellent level or many years of professional experience).
